2/19/10-2/21/10 Final Weekend Box Office

February 23rd, 2010 MJV 1 comment

The final weekend numbers with Scorsese and DiCaprio smashing their own personal best records for opening weekend. Scorsese’s previous best was “The Departed” with $26 million, while DiCaprio’s was $30 million with the Steven Spielberg film “Catch Me if You Can.”

Also to note, “Valentine’s Day” looks to disappear fast to no surprise. It’ll barely make $110 million.  “Avatar” is on its way to $700 million next weekend (the first film ever to do so!), and ‘The Wolfman’ was dismissed this past weekend.  If it can make it to $65-70 million, it’ll be lucky.

Next weekend sees the Kevin Smith/Bruce Willis/Tracy Morgan comedy “Cop Out” fending off the creepy-looking remake of “The Crazies” starring Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell.  But can either knock “Shutter Island” out of the top spot? Unlikely with Kevin Smith’s track record. We’ll have to wait and see next weekend.
